Put a tank of e85 on the weekend in my SS... car is on steroids....lots of power...burns more but woth the bang!!..any idea how much more octane than prem 98 it has??
108-109 Octane. Not advised for stock fuel systems. Will cause damage.

Ethanol’s true octane value should be used to calculate E85’s octane value. This results in an octane range of 94-96 (R+M)/2. These calculations have been confirmed by actual octane engine tests." Take it easy...But do take it...
Do not argue with an IDIOT.
He will just drag you down to his level an beat you with experience.
Some people take me the wrong way, Like smacking up Marijunna.
Ive seen cars (on TV car programs) tuned to run this and the results on the dyno are pretty good, I cant remember how much from memory.
From what I am reading now though you can lose up to 30% fuel econemy in cars not designed to run on it.
Have a read here E85 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Interesting that test results show its 94-96 RON, but other factors are involved.
I used E10 the other day and at the pump it says 94 RON but it ran like crap so I topped it up with 98 from a different servo.
for the brief amount of reading i have done (very brief) the amount you have to change to run it as a daily fuel outweighs the benefits.
everything rubber has to be replaced with synthetic. stainless fuel lines need to be used, fuel pump should be removed from the tank and run externally, etc etc etc
plus you burn more E than you would petrol, so fill up are more frequent.
discuss:
^^ sounds about the same as I have read, most places say its to be too acidic/corrosive for standard fuel systems.
But boy it'd be fun to have it locally available an be able to have your car tuned for it ^_^

YouTube - Eighty-five percent ethanol fuels non FFV for 100,000+ miles
not a good video at all really noone reads plugs off them charts since efi and lead removal from fuel LOL lots of cylinder leakage on the rings plugs starting to get fowled hoses softened thats what ethanol does makes fuel hose soft and leads to high pressure bursts in flexible lines lots of fires been reported in efi pressure situations with the incorrect hose for e85 .its all a scam ide never touch the stuff
I tune the oldschool way fear on the passengers face and knuckle colour cant go wrong
tabbacco is still my favorite vegetable
errrr...Anyone remember the Series 2 VE is a flex car????...everything has been modified such as fuel lines etc....so 94-96 ron you all reckon...anyway i reckon my car runs awesome on it
I read that on the Holden website today, VFM or FVM or something along those lines. In that case it probably wont do any harm.
