I am wondering if anyone here has used Mickey Thompson ET street slicks on the track in 205 50 15? I am thinking of getting some for my dedicate race vn, just curious as to weather they will hook up well or not. Any first hand experience with them would be great.
yup - they're heaaps better than a regular street tyre.. although I still had wheelspin issues
If you're gonna buy et's - why not the 235/255/275's ? all will fit under the car, with perhaps a little massage work.
I had/am seriously thinking of the 235s, im also happy to consider the 205's because of the smaller diameter, but if wheel spin is still present thatll cancell out any advantage of that.
I think my issues were mainly driver-error and the car being setup a bit too stiff - my best 60' was 1.8 at half throttle on a pair of sticky re-moulds(manual, button clutch)
It's certainly a much better tyre than all the street tyres i've used... but having said that, the "highway max" remould rates right up there, too. (Welcome to Highway tyres) - and @ $65/pop, you can't afford NOT to try them.
as for the ET's - they do a 275 with a 50 sidewall which shuold keep your tyre size pretty right?
Remember to run bias ply fronts if running a bias ply slick.
Personally I would go for the drag radials as you can run anything you want on the front.
But if it's just your track car, do you have a set of front runners for it?
Get a 235 at minimum mate. They will fit fine if you use a 15x6 or 15x7
They work sweet if you get some heat into them, terrible if you dont do a good skid to warm them up
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

Na mate, no front runners. Thats why im looking at the et streets (Radial) I "might" look at full slicks and front runners a bit later on but at this stage shes just a n/a v6 so im pretty sure the et streets shoud do the job nicely.
The 235 is the one that has appealed to me the most, I think ill take on your advice and aim at them (at a minium).
At the moment I only have a second hand set of semislicks that are hard as hell and have major traction issues, so ill be pretty happy to hook up a bit better, stoked if it doesnt spin at all.
hoosier quicktime pros and 12psi :P full throttle launches FTW

You'll have absolutely no problems at all getting traction on ET streets with a near enough to stock VN V6. Actually, i'm pretty suprised you can't get good traction on street tyres....I was running high 13's on street tyres when my L67 was nearly stock and i managed to get them to hook up pretty well (i did go 4 tenths of a second faster when i bolted slicks on though).
There are guys running 8's on ET streets these days, they are a bloody good tyre.
I get mine from The Wheel Deal (forum sponsor) for $60 each for a set of 4 or $65 for singles. That's for 225/60/15s, Im pretty happy with them and the tread looks pretty awesome too.
I use these for daily driving and grip wise I wouldn't think you could get 1 tyre as grippy without spending as much as a set of 4 of these would cost.
17411 26x 9.50-14LT is what we run will be going 10.5" wide next time do heaps of sizes

you need to aim for around 10% wheelspin off the line to go fast we are full throttle launching on an old set of hoosiers with bugger all meat left and doing a 1.7 60 foot with a gearchange before the 60 foot mark it gets launched at 5600rpm on the line .tyres are so old they dont even smoke doing prestage burnouts LOL
