Hi all.
Ive spent a fortune on BMWs of all kinds new n old and ive had enough so ive decided to go for a good ol Aussie Holden....im unsure what im going to buy but looking at the commodore or a statesman and i just have a simple question to ask.
when traveling 110km what does a holden V8 engine rev at? my last car (BMW) use to rev at 3200rpm at 110 and it was LOUD. I travel on highways a lot so its not really practical. Im a fan of the older holdens (1999-2003) but they are all 4 speeds like my crappy beemer and i dont really wanna buy a new holden i dont want just for more gears.
so feel free to post what car you have engine size and revs at 110km per hour (only if you have a 4speed) :-)
p.s. im not really car smart so excuse my ignorance
my 3.8L v6 sits on about 2200-2500 i think... My exhaust system makes it very loud.
hope that helps
my 6L in 5th gear doing 100 usually sits at 1900, 2200 in 6th gear goes to 1600 lol usally dont use 6th much, thats just with catback and maf otr
VS V8 wagon @ 100k she sits on 1850rpm @ 110ks 2000rpm and purrs LOL, engine mods are just pacies and 2.5inch cat back
vk 308 sits on 3000rpm at 107kmph.
bloody loud and you can watch the fuel guage drop down as you drive.
vx 5.7 sits on 1900rpm at 105kmph
depends on the diff ratio
most of the Commodores you refer to have a 3.08:1 ratio, which means they'll sit on about 1800-1900rpm at 100kph, about 2000rpm at 110kph. Both the 4 spd auto and 5 spd manual have a 0.7:1 top gear ratio, so they both sit at the same rpm in top.
Cool thats heaps helpful thanks everyone :-D
