    Question Supercat Muffler??

    Hey guys.

Did a search and i couldnt really find much so here goes.

Talking to an exhaust guy and he recommended a Supercat straight through muffler on the catback im getting. I was looking at the Supercat site and the majority of the mufflers were cannons or look like cannons.

Now i dont want a cannon naturally... Is this 'straight through muffler' he is talking about a cannon? I havent been able to get back in touch with him.

Also, is the Supercat brand good?

    Cheers in advance guys.

Well put it this way, a muffler is intended to muffle sounds etc, so it naturally has more crap inside to do the "muffling", and this can be restrictive. Straight through mufflers have a pipe from one side of the muffler to the other, with holes [Depending on brand, design, etc] in the tube to muffle the sound that way, but be less restrictive, meaning more power as for example, drinking through a crazy swirly straw takes longer to get the drink to your mouth compared to a straight straw, you dig?

Also, the canon styles depend on the brand i guess, as you can get nice exhausts that are straight through but aren't canons. Pretty sure people just run a pipe from their cat straight back to the rear of the car with nothing in between, though I think due to most laws you need to run at least 1 muffler between your cat and rear pipe, but you might be able to go Cat converter, then straight through muffler, then a nice looking pipe on the end like /_cat__\===[=muffler=]====[__=tip

    Here's a straight through:

and here's an example of a potential normal muffler:

As for the brand, I have no idea, never bought a new muffler or exhaust, though someone on another forum I am a member of said Supercat is good, but personally IDK.

Nice looking exhaust ConMan! Also, another tip with exhausts is always try to get Mandrel Bent exhausts as the curves are alot more fluent and provide better flow resulting in more POWWAHHHH!!! *In Arnie voice*

The mufflers on the Super Cat website are predominantly Magna Flow cannon type mufflers. The muffler the exhaust guy is talking about is like the first pic up there ^^^ they are the ones used in the SuperCat cat back systems.

I have a supercat system on my wh statesman ls1, sounds pretty damn good for the price, although if you can spend the extra I would go with a more name brand catback (x-force? pacemaker?, dont know...)

I do however also run supercat hi flow cats on my car and they are also good bang for your buck.

If your on a budget it's the way to go, if you have the money to spend then a better known brand would be the go.
