hey guys im looking at buying a VX calai s2 l67, although I am trying to find out some info on how much fuel these things use? as I cannot find any info regarding 00/100km
Thanks guys,
Noy
i was getting roughly 600km a tank suburban driving and could get 900km from a tank driving only highway, that was with an exhaust, opened up cai, and 10psi pulley.

I have a VX II Supercharged Calais 6. I average between 13.5 litres to 15 litres per 100km. I do a lot of stop/start driving in heavy traffic and have been know to sink the boot in. The car is almost stock but I do have a Pacemaker 2.5" twin system. With fuel at a $1.50 per litre for 98RON you need to be sure it is what you want. If you are doing a lot of highway driving I would consider a Supercharged V6 or even LS1. If you are like me and drive in lots of traffic be prepared to have a hefty fuel bill. On the highway things definitely improve and fuel consumption will drop to around 9 litres per 100km. Hopefully this gives you an idea about expected fuel consumption.
What fuel is recommended to use? 95 or 98?
Im close too work and traffic isnt a issue, I just sold my VN5litre and that thing averaged 15L per 100km. Thanks guys!
It just needs to be premium but it just seems to run a little better on 98RON. Fuel Consumption wouldn't be too much of an issue for you being close to work and not having any real traffic. I reckon the supercharged 6 is more fun than the LS1 V8, even if it is not as quick.
When I test drove this car at the dealership today, on the trip computer it said its using 17.5 Litres per 100kms. This couldnt be right? The car has low k's and runs like a gem, could it be because dealers put 5litres of petrol in these things and its judging off that?
Cheers
An Ls1 is not going to save any fuel trust me.
For the charged 6 vs ls1, It's personal preference. Drive both of the a few times. Personally the raw power figure is not why I bought a v8 it's the smooth torque, lumpy idle, exhaust note under load, and just pure drivability. Whether your cruising up a steep hill in 5th gear or opening the taps, you appreciate the car.
And I agree as I just disconnected my battery the other day and was "enjoying" my car ie 3k changes and I was getting 18.5L/100km, so that is not a massive amount by any means.
good luck mate.
For all 8 cylinders...
@ noy, if you are after good fuel economy, the L67 isn't going to be a good choice.
This is the fuel consumption of our VX L67 whilst on holidays this year.
Long story short, Brisbane to Tasmania and back.
Fuel used was only BP98
The only mods to this engine is some porting in the blower, TB, elbow and the LIM. The rest of the engine and exhaust is stock standard.
I have made changes to the tune, including using lean cruise.
I am currently running Brisk LGS plugs.
Quite a lot of the KM covered were done in some really hilly twisty roads where there was lots of WOT use needed
I have marked the best economy with some ***. This was done between The BP on the Hume in Victoria (the Nanny state) and Dubbo.
The figures released by Holden are meant to be 12.5 L/100km city and 7.4 L/100km hwy. I don't know how they got 7.4 on the hwy

Dunno if this is relevant but my vt v6 turbo gets between 10-12l/100kms and that's mixed city and country driving and mixed heavy foot to light foot haha it is manual though and 3.45 diff gears

my vs L67 statesmans gets 12 /100 with 3.46 diff gears and ported supercharger, extractors and 1.95RR
When i lived in town doing short trips to the shops and general running around mine used around 16 to 17 litres per 100 K. Now i live 10 minutes out of town and use 13.5 litres per 100K average. On a long trip highway driving i use 7.5 to 8 litres per 100K sitting on 110 Kph. My car has pacemaker headers and single 3 inch exhaust and i cut the bottom out of the cold air intake.I normally run 98 octane fuel and occasionally 95 octane. If i run regular unleaded the exhaust is very fumey at idle and you can just about see the fuel gauge moving back to empty as you drive.
My L67 gets around the 12.5/100 around Brisbane. My last trip from Brisbane to Newcastle average was about 7.8/100. That was with BP 98 octane. I dont have any mods. Pretty much let the cruise control do everything except like coming into Coffs and a few other places.
How the #### can you possibly get such low figures. I drive with a light feather touch and the shit swallows the fuel like it's a hooker on a coke binge.
i "try" and drive my calais softly and my L/100 is up around 18-19 all city. 10psi, rockers, cai. but hey, if i wanted good fuel economy i wouldve bought a fiesta or something.
