Quick query,
Currently in process of doing two engine conversions L36 > L67 v6's.
Something im not sure about is the exhaust manifold gaskets. The motor im using was from a wrecker's it didnt have any exhaust on it but there were gaskets stuck to the heads still, the other motor purchased from a forum member still had the stock manifolds on it with no gaskets. Holden also say there is no exhaust manifold gaskets for these motors (L36 & L67).
As both motors are getting pacemaker extractors, should i source some gaskets or just bolt them on directly?
Cheers
Power is measured in DECIBEL
i would get some gaskets
if you are going to have extractors thay seal better but with origanal manafolds i would not bother
some extractor/header manufacturers specify not to use gaskets.
That was the case with the Pacemakers I bought for my 304
I don't use gaskets, just a bit of high temp exhaust sealant and no leaks so far.
The VSV6 gregorys workshop manual also says that no gaskets are used on the exhaust manifolds.Heres what it actually says :
" the manifold and cylinder head sealing surface must be in perfect condition as no gasket is used".

A light smear of high temp silicone is all you need. When it comes to extractors, gaskets belong in the bin.
When i bought Pacemakers for my Calais with the L67 motor, they came with gaskets. The original manifolds had no gaskets.
