hey anyone im hoping to get my vx evecutive lowered this weekend but i dont know what the heights will be either with pedders low springs or the touring springs as they aren't specified on the website. any pics or feedback will be appreciated.
cheers.
Do you have to go Pedders? If you've already bought them don't worry, but otherwise have a good look and King Springs or even Lovells. What shocks are you going to use? Camber kit? Don't forget there's more to lowering a car properly than springs.
Holden Commodore VX Sedan - Pedders Suspension is a VX with SportsRyder springs, which I'm guessing would be the ones Pedders would give you. If you go in store they can tell you what the measurements will be though.
IMO, if you have decent standard shocks go Kings Lows, if you can afford shortened shocks, get some KYB Excel G's and Kings SuperLows![]()
my friends vx was about 35 with pedders "low" springs, i suppose depending if springs are second hand or brand new as to the exact height
yeah i was planning on getting new shocks aswell and maybe even new struts up front depending on cost. and are king springs around the same price as pedders? cheers for the help guys!!
My back springs are running on pedders touring, they are just legal for SA - I do believe; I asked pedders for just below legal height
Maybe get a quote from Burson's for the shocks, struts and springs. If you get the parts from them, or similar, and install them yourself you'll save heaps. There's plenty of how-to's on here for that as well. Also change the strut top bushings/bearings if they need it, and any other rubbers that you come across that are stuffed. Then drop it off somewhere for a wheel alignment and enjoy.yeah i was planning on getting new shocks aswell and maybe even new struts up front depending on cost. and are king springs around the same price as pedders?
thanks guysi'll drop into pedders tomorrow and talk to them. i think i'll go with the lows.
thanks for the help everyone!
hi all, i got a quote from pedders today on getting my VE lowered price seems abit high at $860 for just the springs fitted and alined noting else is that about right or is that a ripp off??
Yes, i wouldnt go to pedders with a 60ft pole. Not just for the price but the dodgey safety checks and the jacking up of my car from the tie bar that caused $800+ damage and a compensation battle. Probably not reflective of all stores but their prices are high. Just shop around.
oh ok no worries mate cheers for that
Yeah, I used to go to Pedders...but got stuffed around too. Now I do what I can myself and have sound a smaller suspension place with some great people there who are really helpful do the alignments and harder stuff. Plus I'm not a huge fan of Pedders overpriced, average quality parts, just my opinion though![]()
Does any one know if any good places in Bendigo Vic were i could get them done?
Rears are piss easy to do, just need some spring compressors (something you squash the spring with while it's still in the car with a racket) and make sure the handbrake is off. Also jack it up by the diff, put stands on the skirts then drop the jack will also make it go lower. as for the shocks there's 1 bolt down the bottom then undoing them in the boot.
That's it.
Front is another story tho =\ Especially when you can shoot someone with the damn strut top lol
