    Default Suspension question

I know theres like a hundred threads for suspension.. but Im sorry..
Okay ever since Ive bought this car Ive had nothing but trouble with this car and its ride quality..
so far Ive upgraded from Cut springs to Pedders Touring springs. From what I can see it has GT Monroe gas shocks and struts.
Ive been told by a mechanic that I should upgrade my shocks to a shortened type. Also I had a look at my front springs today and I've noticed that I can almost push the springs out when jacked up..Is this normal?

So I was looking at upgrade my shocks and struts to GT Monroe Sports. Monroe claims they are great for lowered cars so I'm liking that, Would this be the best way to go?
Ive looked on eBay and found 2 different packages a Ultra low and Super Low, Package includes King Springs, GT Monroe sports Struts and Shocks. Im looking for a low look but something that legal and something that still is a smooth ride. So should I purchase this package? or just Upgrade my shocks and my front springs?

    Thanks..

I push the pedal to the floor, smoke them up and go.

Hate to break it to you, but it's a Commodore. No matter what you do the ride quality will be shit.

You can improve it by changing shocks, the ones in there are probably worn anyway.

Lowered car = firmer ride. That's how it works. You can't have both.

Monroe GT Sports or the equivalent is about as good as your going to get on lowered stiffer springs.

Alright thanks for the answers guys!
I wanna try the best to get the best out of the car and the ride quality, I think its awful atm.
I was thinking maybe the shocks would of been worn.. the car has a rough life from what I can gather..

The only way it will get better would be if you went Bilstein shocks, but then you're up for big dollars.

Bilstein ftw - but it depends on your definition of "better ride". It certainly won't be softer but will stick to the road like poop to a blanket.

How many k's on your car and is it still running the original rubber bushes front and rear? It's no use mucking about with springs and dampers if the suspension floats around like a rubber raft in a tidal wave. You would be surprised how much better the car will ride if the old rubbers are all replaced and it's not expensive. Do that, and fit the new springs and dampers and you won't recognise the way the car rides and handles. Just replacing springs and shocks will not overcome a worn out suspension.

Well i got SL front and SSL Rear with shortened shocks/struts and it's basically the same as not being lowered, so the old springs must of been a bit shit. But it's not alot to notice, except over train lines or something then it's bumpy

Front bushes has been replaced, Had almost everything to do with suspension replaced at pedders. Pedders said rear was fine for the time being..
I dont think my suspension floats around.. It just seems like theres no real suspension, almost everyroad is bumpy.. It was improved heaps from when I had cut springs -.-

Okay, Fine. My question is really. Would upgrading Struts and Shocks and Front springs be worth it? The car has had a real rough life. Car rides almost like a tractor. It used to have cutsprings - Maybe this wore out my shocks?

i have gt gas shocks in my vy with fe2 suspension and the ride isnt any worse for me but the old shocks were the originals and had no spring left in them (to be expected)

I've got gt sport shocks/struts all round, super pro strut top bearings & mounts, nolathane link pins, Lows front SL rear and it rides like absolute crap - and its a LOT better than it was.
What does that tell you lol.

Man the analogies on this thread crack me up..
