Bit difficult to make the rear a a cab chassis look different. I bet the VW is infinitely superior quality wise.

are you serious? they are not even close. amarok is alot bigger than a colorado.

a colorado is just a rip off Isuzu D-Max anyway.

Lets see if people will warm to a 2 tonne truck being punted around with a 2 litre engine. Albeit twin turbo (some).

Lets also see if it can do >100,000 klms without an engine replacement.

Does have a large tray though.

Doesn't look to bad, and if its reasonably priced and as relaible and well build as other VW's it should sell well

thats false logic. its the first time VW have sold a ute here

I think theyve used the Amarok in the Dakar rally and VW dont do things half assed

    Interesting.

Curious to see what happens when they release the 'budget' models.

On other news drove my first Great Wall Motors Ute today worst 'modern' vehicle I have driven to date.

its all tested technology, the VW T5 s2 transporter runs the same bi-turbo motor. actually won some praise for how fast it is for a van, the ute wouldnt weigh anymore

$62000 for the top model. Friend of mine drove one the other day and said it was pretty good. Quality wise it would be streets ahead of the holden.

Rodeo has been an Isuzu for a long time. The change to the Colarado was because Holden could no longer use the Isuzu for whatever reason. I think it may have been because Isuzu was owned by GM but has since changed hands.

the holden rodeo has ALWAYS been an isuzu. the name change to colorado came about because isuzu owned the name rodeo (i think this is how it worked) and said that they were going to enter the aussie market and use that name. as isuzu made the car, holden had to change name to the colorado but then isuzu ended up just using the same name as they have done overseas in the d-max. or possibly i made all that up, i dunno.

until the mid 90's, all holden rodeos had isuzu on the ignition key.

$62,000 is pretty right for a top of the range 4x4 dual cab turbo diesel auto ute these days, it wouldnt be much more than a similar spec'd hilux. i dont know if i would buy one though, the VW is a bit bigger than the rest. its around 100mm wider than any other ute in the class.
