    Default Buying a defected car

Been looking for a new work ute (as some may already know)

and i have found one thats going cheap

the only major thing wrong with it is that the car in question has been defected
(having air bags in the rear, its been engineered im pretty sure for them??? )

    can the seller / I

a, sell me the car with no rego, no roady and defected
b, then i fix it up and the re register it in my name
    c, drive it

or is the case once its defected only that person that the car is registed to can clear the defect then sell the car

    cheers

Anybody can fix the car, get it roadworthyed and then register it. I'd think long and hard about it though - they tend to be a lot of work and problematic when they are defected like that. RWC mechanics and roads authorities tend to look a little more closely.

once the defect has run out of time and the reg has been cancelled you can rip off the defect notice and it all goes away. the car just becomes another unregistered car going through RWC.
