Hi everyone,
I recently purchased a VR, and am looking to purchase a workshop manual. Unfortunately I can't afford genuine Holden ones, so was after an opinion on the after-market ones - Ellery's and Gregory's.
I only have a very basic mechanical knowledge, so wouldn't be attempting anything too drastic, but need one that goes into a bit of detail about how things work and are assembled, and that don't assume you are a mechanic already!
For those who have seen both brands of the above, can they give me an opinion on which one they think is best? They are both about the same price. I was able to get the Gregopry's one from the library and it looks pretty good, but haven't seen an Ellery's one.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated![]()
Ive got a gregorys manual for my VN and have found it very usefull.
havent checked out the ellerys one tho.
I would probably suggest the Gregory's manual. I have an Ellery's, and it is not too bad, but I have seen Gregorys and think they are better. There seems to be better pictures in the Gregorys which I think would be ideal for you, otherwise content, I think is quite similar. The Ellery's is for VR and VS also, and it tends to be quite repetitive.
When I 1st got my Vee Pee, I was going to get a manual....then I found Justcommodores......got a few answers to my problems.....hung around...metGarth...(he lives a few K's down the road )...he came and helped me son and I do a Heart & Lung Transplant(motor & tranny)...took 4 days.....).he left his VN manual here...cos he figured he didn't need it...cos he's owned commmos fer ages, and already knows lots, plus he has JC......and he & I figured I would have more chances of seeing things people wanted, and scanning the approprate pages for them.....so I haven't worried about buying one mate....just read around the Madhouse, I mean Forum.....if you don't find what you need , just ask!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (and look where I am now...I'm a ModeRATor now !!!!!!!...........
