Recently ive noticed an issue with my gearbox, when it is changing from second to third gear it revs and then goes into third. So it stops halfway between 2nd and 3rd revs and then goes into gear... its almost as if somthing it sticking.
I plugged a computer into the cars computer to see if it threw up any error codes and it didnt.
I then serviced the gear box and its still doing it.
The car has done 130,000 kms so i doubt the gearbox is on its last legs........
Has anyone else had these troubles or does anyone know how to fix it ??
-Cheers
What did you service? Fluid change and filter.. When you say revs you mean between gear shifts? If that's the case it would be time for a partial/full rebuild.. Or be some crap in or sad shift valve. I take it to the pro's as there's simply to much small moving parts in there for me :P
Cheers,
Dave
Mine does exactly the same thing. It flares out from 2nd to 3rd.
Mine also does this. When you're coming down a long hill and it systematically drops down through the gears to say 3rd gear, it gets stuck in 3rd when you put the accelerator down. It will stay in 3rd for about 200 metres or untill I drop it into neutral then into drive again.
I am yet to see if changing the shift points or line pressures will fix it. Not an answer, just letting you know your not alone.
PS. Just noticed you drive a VX. Well same problem in different gearbox from Holden. Go figure
On the weekend, i checked the oil level of the gear box and it was really low, like almost emptyso i drained what was left in it and put new oil in, so it was a bit of a halfassed service lol.....
I really hope im not up for a rebuild, sounds expensive ! :P but yeah i might take it to a mechanic, is it worth taking it to holden as they might have seen the issue before, and know how to fix it or are they useless
Cheers, liam
[QUOTE=VEV8;1835780]Mine does exactly the same thing. It flares out from 2nd to 3rd.
Thats exactly what it does, just flares out inbetween the gears, and sometimes it changes down gears too early doesnt quite hold gears.......
i'm suprised that your having the same issue on a new car ! you can probably claim yours on warranty![]()
NO, don't take it to a Holden dealer - look for a reputable auto transmission specialist in your area. Any problems with your transmission will be very familiar to them. If you took it to the dealer, you can guarantee they will only send it off to their local auto specialist anyway, (which could be the same specialist you could have gone to yourself) then they charge a premium on top of the specialist's costs, so you get the same job done by the same mechanic, but pay the dealer extra for the "privelage".
alright sweet, not taking it to holden then![]()
I had to go to a holden dealer for an airbag check a couple of months ago and all they did was park it out the back for an hour, they didnt even look at the car... still got charged 150 bucks though
But i needed the check to get a VIV so there was no avoiding it lol
