isnt the HSV GTS coupe the top of the line over here...they dont call it a monaro, but yeah its the monaro,.. thats 300 kw
Well whats up with this. Looks like us yanks built a better Holden! I'm not sure but the CV8Z is the the top of the line Monaro right?
Our Pontiac GTO is equiped with a 6.0 Gen IV Ls2 With 400hp or roughly 300kw
Your Holden Monaro has a 5.7 Gen III Ls1 with 350hp or 260kw.
Bet you wish you had that!!

297 kwlol to be precise
Nah the GTS Coupe had a 300kw LS1, the HSV Z model GTO coupes have 297 kW LS2, the same as the Pontiac GTO. Its rated at 297 i think mainly to keep the GTS owners happy that they still have the more powerful HSV.
haha that would be right!!! they are capable of soo much more power tho....would love to see a 360kw stock gts![]()
kW sells cars, torque moves them![]()
quick question...the GTS is still available but only through special order ? is this correct? cuase i know for a while they did do this, but am unsure whether they do this in the VZ model...and if they do wat is the power? considering the vz(Z series hsv) have the ls2? sorry to be of topic
That might be right. I know right up until they killed off the Supercharged V6 you could get an XU-6 on Special Order (XU-6 stopped mass production when the VY came out).
Anyway, I reckon our Monaro looks better and if there's a 2008 Monaro then may God have mercy on us all if the yanks design and build it...
TORANAS FOREVER!!!!!

You're right there juzza. I reckon an HSV GTO LS2 would probably beet the GTS LS1. I think I read somewhere that 85% of the LS2's max torque starts at around 1600 rpm. Thats pretty mental.
only because late model commos weigh about as much as a small planet... bikes have absolutely no torque, are you saying theyre slow?Originally Posted by juzza
i wonder if he knows that our monaro's aka the cv8-z has got the gen4, ls2, hmm, lol, hey are one in the same cars, jsut named differently, and ofcourse, different nose, and steering wheel is on the wrong side,
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
I thought they were only about 50 or so K's heavier..I might be wrong there though.....and Bikes have no torque ???Okay...............good to see you share your years of hands on knowledge with us mate.....Originally Posted by czerwonyVN
um ok.... look at the weight difference between a VK and a VT...
take an R6 and a HSV GTO
R6: 165kg, 600cc revs to 14,000rpm or so, makes 97kw and 62Nm, 0-100kmh<4seconds
GTO: 1700kg, 6000cc revs to 6,700rpm, makes 300kw and 535Nm, 0-100km=5seconds
do you see where im going with this?

no, really?Originally Posted by juzza
Yep.. hard to believe but true!
Where the Hell bikes came into this, I don't know.....
so you think the GTO is built in america?
yeah right ....
Rob
Yea Bob...seems this bloke czerwonyVN knows everything.....
bob was probably addressing the author of this thread, as i never made such a statement.
I think the CV8-Z still only has the GEN III!Well according to the Holden Site it does!Originally Posted by Garth

bikes are just an example, the principle is the same... if you put a bike engine into a really light car chassis (has been done, kit cars etc) it will be very fast even with so little torque.
Bikes have little torque???? Okay..............................whatever..I have no wish to argue with someone that obviously knows so much about everything........
I want to see what Rat knows 'bout bikes...
