Default Thinking of getting a V8

I took a VE Commodore SS II for a test drive last night and have decided it's time to upgrade from an SV6 if I can justify the additional expense. Fuel is not much of a concern as I catch the train to work during the week. I have currently looked at registration, insurance and servicing costs and they're better than I expected - $960 for rego, $960 for insurance with RACQ and $290 for 15/30,000 service at Village Holden. Apart from the bank loan side of things, is there anything you think I should consider before upgrading?

I think 8's all the way and to be honest we run 3 of them and its not that expensive, I think our only real expense is the fuel side of things but in saying that you catch the train so I say go for it you will never look back

v8's can be more econonomical to run mate, if you catch the train to work most days then you wouldnt use much fuel on the weekends? Great for long runs and highway driving. Servicing costs arent all that much more expensive from what ive found over the last couple of years.

You can make them efficient. They're far from it in factory trim. That said, they're still not horendous.

Honestly, if you're worried about using fuel. Buy a Lancer.

Previously, I drove far too many miles to justify the additional expense of a V8, so I bought a VX S and then VE SV6. I currently spend about $230/month on fuel.

Without taking a bank loan and potential fuel increase into account, the V8 will cost me less than 10 bucks a week more! That's a small price to pay!
