LS1 transmission for worked motor?

Hi,

I'm looking at getting either a VY SS, VY Calais, or WK Caprice. I've got around 10-15k to spend. The car will be auto.

I'm wanting to know if down the track I work the motor a bit, put in a cam + head kit, what sort of work needs to be done on the transmission? What sort of cost would I be looking at for a stall converter and whatever else is needed?

A decent rebuild will probably cost you over $2000.

That and then some, and it will still be a weak gearbox. If you're that serious put a manual in it or go for a 3 speed.

Yeah once you start throwing power at the stock boxes they die in the arse.

I would say youre much better off throwing any money you want to spend on a worked box at a t56 conversion, but they are pretty expensive.
