I know theres topics about this already, but im just wondering if anyone has bought a car from over east without actually going over there to view it and pay for it etc...
Ive scoped out transport from door to door, but im unsure how to do the paperwork and actualy hand the money over for the car without actualy being there, i dont want to get scammed just wondering if theres a certain way people do it
any advise about the whole process would be great
FYI: im in perth looking at a car in QLD
fly there to view it then throw it on a truck or a train.
I would never buy a car interstate without viewing and test driving it!
Im looking at a new ride but its in adelaide, if i get the train back to perth I can throw the car on the train for $85
bought my car from nsw. turned out ok, there was a few things I should've seen on it though. but that's just me not looking properly on the day, no paticularly major surprises![]()
nathans VY Calais - 'Calais 2.0' | VT Equipe | VS Calais **SOLD!**
I bought my rodeo from SA , went over by plane had a look all over , had a drive , looked over the engine and what not , and drove back haha
i got my car put on a backload on a semi saved me a fortune !!
Id prefer not to fly over as thats an extra 500 just for flights etc.. id get a full inspection by the RACQ with a report on every part on the car pretty much,
to the people that have transported their cars, link to the company and rough prices? cheers
cheapest return flights i could find from perth to adelaide was $186, dont see how u got $500 but never the less
If there is anyone you trust on this site or anyone you know in qld. Maybe they mite help
Life tastes sweeter when it's wrapped in debauchery!
Thats if you intend to look at it then dedcide later.
Ideally its cheaper n more feasible to fly there, look, test, buy, put on train n rail it back
Just takes 1 day to get from adelaide to perth
If it was over east or in melbourne id throw it in the back of a truck for around $500/$600 n fly back, just easier and cheaper
Hey you could get lucky dad was telling me this story of a sydney man finding a $1000 old car.. He was going to restore it and what not.. he fly over to perth to pick it up.. found out the owner of the car had it stored with original 1000miles on it and everything was in A1 condition.. the cars worth atleast $40000
But you could fly over, check it out.. Test drive it... check it out.. then confirm.. and then even road-trip or find a car carrier or train..
Id rather buy cars from WA then NSW.. and im from SA lol :P
This is just my opinion and won't sit well with everyone but when you see a bargain you have to pounce.
If it's a private sale, forget it. It's a long way for you to go and the seller could lie through their teeth about its condition considering they have nothing to lose.
If its from a dealer, do what I did on my last 2 cars. Tell him to list EVERY fault that they as a dealer would normally be aware of and send that to you. 10 photos if thats what it takes. You will have to pay the money before hand over obviously but if it's a great deal (and it must be) that shouldn't be a problem. The dealer will sign the paperwork over to you and if he's a good dealer, will make they transport arrangements on your behalf as well.
I bought a car in Sydney and a car in the middle of Queensland without seeing them and saved thousands just by making a quick decision. Again its not for everyone.
Ive looked on multiple sites now and cheapest return i can get is 440$, 220 each way, i will keep looking, but to the people saying get it trucked or railed over for 500$ where can i get that done?
ive got quoes from 10+ transport companies the cheapest being 1400$,
call up local or interstate trucking companies (even furniture removalists) you'll find sum1 that will do it n they charge a third of that!!
I've not bought a car interstate, but I considered it last year. I could fly from Darwin to Hobart for less than $200; buy a car at a good price; them have the pleasure of driving it home. the ferry for me plus car was under $300. For me, one attraction was that the trip home would be all holiday.
I've bought my last three cars, all Commodores, from Pickles Auctions in Darwin. Based on my experience with them, I'd be happy to buy from their branches elsewhere.
A friend in Darwin recently bought a car in Sydney. The cheapest freight was Patricks: they deliver most of the new cars up here.
I gather that there is a substantial difference between the first quote they give you, and the final price, if you negotiate a bit.
