Hey guys,
I was in the middle of doing some porting work to one of my heads and I came accross a little issue. One minute I was grinding away on an intake runner, I put down my bur to check something in another runner, I look back and there's a freaking hole in my port!!!! I didn't hit it with anything and my burr didn't catch it, or not enough for me to notice it (and I was watching the thing as I was grinding). I had to look at it quite a bit for it to sink in and make absolutley sure it was a hole and not a bit or crap that looked like a hole but wipes off. I poked it and it really was a hole. I couldn't believe it! I checked all the other runners for any signs of the same problem which included poking around the same areas with a scribe to fine weak spots. Nothing found.
Now... Can I weld this back up? Is there a reliable way to fix this? I really want to use these heads as they are B Cast L34 heads. I'm willing to sacrifice some flow for the repair but, obviously, the smoother the better.
Any help would be appreciated. I don't have a welder or the skills to weld so if that's the only option I'll have to start looking around for shops.
Thanks,
Lewie.
