hey guys n gals, been doing a bit of a test between some air filters. had the standard vs box with panel filter and now my mates car got ritten off so he gave me his k&n pod
4" utlra flow. alot bigger then ordinary ones. ive just had it sitting in the engine bay and noticed a better throttle response and breathes way better, but its been blowing a bit of smoke when i put my foot down?
andddd before youse all rant about how much you hate pods and stick to the stock one yadda yadda IM ONLY TESTING and am just curious as to why its blowing a bit of smoke. could it be theres too much air going in compared to the old panel filter? o2 sensor? thanks![]()
i know some pods are oiled filters so you might have to much oil on the filter and be sucking some into the engine
most probably the black smoke will be carbon. i cant say for sure on aussie EFI engines, but most jap engines will adjust their mixtures according to the condition of the engine/fuel etc, so when you add something like a pod that allows more air in, then the mixtures stay too rich for a while and the first few Kms puffs clouds.
yeh i was thinking there was way too much air going in. just the sound of it idling sounds like a jumbo jet suckin air in lol. thanks dudes :]
