was just about to start that exact thread haha. vl 5 speed do any of them do a mafless tune? ive been told theres a few that can but majority wont cause they dunno what theyre doing...youd know alot more then me id think lol. also any of you fellas know the price of one aswell?
ive got a mate thats had nothing but dramas with PBE, he's now gettin his work done thru Streamline at Warnersbay and is happy with there work. Iam taking my car in there this morning for a dyno tune, i'll let you know what i think
I highly recommend streamline at warners bay.. Cant be beaten for quality and price. I know first hand that pbe dynotech arent good and are also expensive.
mafless tune? if its for your vs ute dosen't it have a MAP sensor on it already?
i cant fault G-Force. never had a tune done by them but had a motor built and other work done, never any dramas and i gave that motor a hard time i tell ya! they have tuned many many wild cars so ya should be right with them.
guys at work who are very picky about who works on their cars have also recommended carline at maitland, never been there myself so i cant comment directly on them
[QUOTE=dirt drifter;1874660]mafless tune? if its for your vs ute dosen't it have a MAP sensor on it already?
i honestly have no idea. ive been readin all the mafless tune threads and am hearing good results with fuel economy and power so might aswell give it a go. correct me if im wrong (slowly learning lol) isnt that MAF the kind of honey comg looking air filter after your airbox? from my knowloedge i thought if you got rid of the maf then it needed to be tuned again to the MAP sensor or something along those lines?? pleaseeeee correct me if im wrong. cheers man
yes correct on the MAF sensor description and location. those threads would be the guys running LS1 and newer motors, they get rid of the airflow meter (MAF sensor) from the induction pipe between the airbox and throttle body when they put on the over-the-radiator air inlet (OTRCAI) and run off the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor instead.
if yours is a 5L im 99.9999 percent sure it would have a MAP sensor (its a black rectangle shaped box with a vacuum hose attached to it located at the top of the passenger side firewall. i think the vt sequential injection 5L was the only one to run a MAF sensor.
ahh i see. can you get rid of the maf on a v6? wouldnt it just be another restriction? also i have an OTR induction which is a bit of a new addition and noticed my fuel economy has gone a bit down hill in guessing due to the amount of air going in. either way its getting a tune after a few little mods here and there very soon. what would be the best option?? mafless if possible or just leave the thing on and get a normalish tune??
