    Default VIN Decode please <3

    Hi all, recently bought a new car and I've been getting mixed answers as to whether it's a series 1 or series 2, so can someone here please help me get some details from the VIN?

    Thanks

    That's a tough one mate. The series II VY was released August 2003...

    The same date as your car...

    "The VY Series II update added cruise control, front power windows variable front seat lumbar support, and revised interior trims. "

    6G1-YK5-2-A-83L-136746

    6=Oceania.
    G=Australia.
    1=Holden.

    Y=VY
    K=Executive, SV6, SV8 SS
    5=4 Door sedan

    2=Active belts with driver and passenger airbags.

    A=ECOTEC

    8=Check code and/or Month (August)
    3=2003
    L=Elizabeth build plant

    An the last six numbers are your production Number

    Cheers

    Thanks Hozy Doesn't tell me if series 2 though!

    I have no idea how to tell haha - mechanics are either guessing, or giving me different answers each time :P

    *edit* just read comments under the picture. My car has cruise control, front power windows and lumbar support - guess I have a series II

    Thanks for your help

    Hmm, that's the thing that first led me to think it was a series I. Unless the person before me had de-badged it, as I haven't touched it. There is no Series II badge on my car.

    The S and SV8 now have body-coloured grille and rear licence plate surrounds and spoiler-mounted stop lamps with clear lens. Both feature new alloy wheels - five-spoke on the S, which receives larger 17-inch wheels, and dual five-spoke on the SV8 - are matched to new-specification tyres, tuned for improved handling and firmer, quieter ride characteristics. Body coloured exterior mirrors and amber indicator lenses also set the SV8 apart.

    this is the exterior upgrade from the series 1

    ok i have figured out exactly what they changed between series 1 and 2 on the s-pack

    the spoiler brake light was changed from a red lens to a clear lens

    and the front bar lower middle section went from a black part to a colour coded
