i drove my mate's bf falcon this morning and it was so quiet.what would be the best method and products to use to try to reduce road noise (not tyre noise ) in my VT executive.i'm open to all and any suggestions.cheers
Dynamat would help probably.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
It would but to reduce road noise you'd wanna pull up the carpet and do the floor doors and potentially the firewall. It won't be cheap
Comes standard with dynamat in it, However you may find apon lifting the carpet the old dynamat has cracked leaving air/noise to enter the vehicle.
I have my carpet out at the moment replacing the heater core (coolant under carpet).. wasnt what I expected
i removed my back seat and sure enough there is some sort of soundproofing material on the floor but it doesn't cover the whole area.i'm assuming that it is dynamat as you guys have suggested so today i'll price that ,or something similar, and then decide whether to pull up all the carpet to see if the rest of the car has only been "half done".my VT is a series I so perhaps it's one of the areas that they may have made improvements in later models.cheers
dynamat looks like this stuff:
then after that stuff you put a layer of felt on, then a layer of carpet and it blocks a shed-load of road noise. but your door seals have to be working properley and door cards in good nick. or they will bleed sound into the car.
totally worth the price, but also extremely expensive.
thanks mate.you're the gun.i've just pulled up the carpet on the passenger side and there's certainly nothing that looks anything like that.thanks everyone who has posted a reply.at the very least i can see that it is fixable so i'll chase up a price shortly and depending on how expensive "extremely expensive"is will play a big part on how soon i do it.cheers
260 bucks for 36 square feet from knox auto carpets: Knox Auto Carpets - Manufacturer and supplier of moulded car carpets and carpet accessories
i had to use 2 boxes to do the entire impala floor and firewall, and even then i couldve used a 3rd.
