is window tinting on a vx sedan a diy job or professional job
cheers
also what would it roughly cost for a pro job?
The price of a pro job is worth it. Its so easy to muck it up.
Had mine done for $199 but there are a couple of places in sydney that do them even cheaper.
not really worth doing yourself, best to go to a pro, ive heard prices from 150 to about 500 depends on what your after, ive heard it's a hard job to do yourself and the end results arnt that great, but if your willing to give it a go then just do research on how to do it so it turns out good, i would love to be able to say "i tinted my own windows"
Dont do it yourself you will end up having bubbles in it it will be crooked get it done by a pro
done it myself, wouldn't do it again... get a pro to do it
you can tell when people do it themselves
i payed $350 for darkest legal with a lifetime warranty
You think it can't be too hard when you look at the door glass because they only curve in one direction but the rear window is a bitch because it usually has compound curves and requires more than one piece to cover it. Definitely not a job for the home handyman. Get the pro's to do it.
cheers dont think i have the patients to do it myself anyway
Living in Sydney there's no point in trying to do it yourself mate, there are numerous places which will do it for as low as $160, and lots of places will do it for $200 with lifetime warranty. If you lived somewhere without a cheap option, DIY may have been worth it, but not if you live in Sydney.

Much easier to pay someone. But it can be done yourself. The reason you say that it looks bad when people do it themselves is because the ones that do a good job themselves you don't know they didn't pay someone.
The biggest downside is the pro tint is generally better quality. The Repco stuff fades and goes purple quickly.
Side windows aren't too hard spread the tint out and cut it on the outside of the window. Clean the inside, then spray soapy water all over it. Peel the backing off and stick it on carefully. Now using the squeegee work the soapy water out the edges.
For the rear window, this is the hardest, do the same but you'll have to join it, do this on one of the heating strips. Put it in the outside and if it's quite curved heat it carefully with a heatgun or hairdryer.
Apply the tint then trip along the heat strip. Then apply the next lot overlapping and trim again.
Buy more tint than you need I guarantee you'll have to redo at least one side window and probably have 2 goes at the rear.
Edit: At the end of the day practice makes perfect. My tint is professional but i bought it that way. Ive helped heaps of mates tint theres cars and once you've done it a couple of times it's pretty easy.
I tried to do a window next to my front door, to rectangular flat windows, and it just turned to shit, it bubbles and wrinkles and is just a bitch lol. Pay someone to do it for sure
