Default Centre console damaged by dealer

    Hi All

My car went to the dealer on saturday to have the IQ/radio changed, when I got it back I noticed very bad marks where they forced open the centre console with a screw driver. After showing this to the servicing manager he took no responsibility and told me that people make mistakes. He also questioned whether it was them that did it. What can I do about this?

    Thanks

Take it up withs the dealer principal (ie the business owner). He shouldn't be too impressed with poor workmanship AND total indifference towards his customers like that, if he values his business.

EXACT same thing happened to my dad by a certain holden dealership in fremantle. He purchased a VUII Maloo about 5 years ago, and the standard CD player was destroyed, so they swapped it for another stock one. i was in the passengers seat as he did it, as my dad was inside. i watched him scratch the shit out of it taking it out (he wasnt being very gentle) then tell my dad it was a mistake, and there wasnt anything he could do about it.

anyway my dad bitched out and just went along with the "it was a mistake" theory.

The dealers tradies mistake should not be your problem its the businesses. If after trying the dealer principle you get no satisfaction get onto Holden themselves maybe they can bring some pressure to bear on the dealer to get the appropriate result.

the dealer/service department have to replace something they have damaged themselves! you as a customer have a right of having your car returned to you in the exact condition as was when you left it.. obviously excluding parts changed and what not

anyway the mechanics have a tool for jobs like this... a plastic flat blade kind of thing. obviously if you use a screw driver your gonna leave marks

    idiots!!

Don't cop it. Go back in there and do like Calaber said. Don't leave until they have replaced it. Bastards!

I spoke to the new car manager and he agreed that that level of workmanship is not acceptable. He arranged for it to be replaced and assured me that it will be done by the foreman. It was done properly this time, but I dont think I will go back there.

Get a friend to take a car of the same make from the same dealer for a test drive and swap the console lid over . If they say anything tell them "people make mistakes "
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
