had an issue last night where my car would misfire under heavy load.. say like if im doing 60km/h in 5ht and accelerated it would then when i turned into my gf's street and went to accelerate and my car started having a tantrum.. straight i new a coil pack was gone because my car acted the same when my dfi module went last year and affected one coil pack
went to replace it this morning because i have 4 spare and when i turned my car on it ran fine.. except it would still misfire under load
anyway i can test the coil packs? or do i have to change them with the spares and test to see which one it is?
no one knows if i can test coil packs?? the misfiring is annoying lol it started doing it when i take off a little bit just before?!
Are the contact pins under the coil packs good ?
the dfi module was replaced last year so it should be alright yeah?
would a coil pack stop working completely then play tricks with the owner and start working again lol?
i know its definetely spark related.
plugs and leads were replaced last year aswell
yeah i was going to say leads and plugs as i had exactly the same problem... check where the power goes into the coil as i had that mess up and the car wouldnt start at all... i had no clue but the nrma bloke eventually found it and just made the connectors tighter
First up,its best to replace both the plugs and plug leads if they are more than a year old. The best way to test these coils is by trying a "known" working coil in each of the 3 places where yours go,then drive it each time to see if it misfires until you get to the coil thats causing the problem. Its worth replacing all 3 coils if one is buggered as the others probably arent far behind. Its also worth using genuine holden coils instead of the cheaper ones. The genuine ones run a lot better and last longer.
If theres no difference after testing the 3 coils, then swap over the DFI module to see if thats working ok.Even though its only a year old or whatever,it could still be buggered, you just never know until you test it out by fitting another spare DFI module and test driving it and comparing how the two run..
ok tomorrow morning i will start putting the spare coils in and testing them during the day.. if not i will look into the dfi module
it was running on 4 cylinders so i doubt 2 plugs or leads stuffed up at the same time then corrected themselves
turns out it was the dfi module.. stupid thing only lasted a year!
