Just bought myself a Vy SV8, its got lowered suspensoin and sitting on stockies, just wondering what or if there is a size rim i couldput on but that not just looks good but also might increase the ride hight. At the moment the guards are sitting inline with the top of the tyres and the lowest point of the car measuring 90mm from the groung. Thats too low so if i bought 19" does the tyre diameter increase too or the tyre just get thinner? Have i confused ya all?
generally the tyre profile shrinks as you go up in tyre size, this mantains a similar if not the same rolling diametre.
what your suggesting is to change the rolling diametre of the tyre, which you can do, for instance, take your offroad 4x4 tyres massive tyre wall on a 15inch rim. you can change this but remember this will affect your speedo reading and also acceleration.
open google, type in tyre size calculator and you'll see what i mean about speedo reading and tyre profile changes.
Your ride height should not change with the fitment of new wheels and tyres. That is why the sidewall of your tyre (profile) gets smaller as you go larger with your wheels. 235/45R17 is almost the same as 205/65R15, same with 235/40R18 etc etc.

I also remember reading that it is now illegal to change the overall rolling diameter by anymore than (5%?).. Just an FYI

Yeah, it is illegal, by how much I believe is state to state. That's when people often get scrubbing issues etc

the answer lies in your choice of suspension not tyres.sorry mate, that's probably not what you want to hear.
15s will create the illusion of the car being very low. So if you put 19's on it, yes it will 'look' taller.
I found this with my VS. On 15s it looks way to low, but as soon as put my 19's on the car looks higher cause the wheels fill out the guards more and the tyre profile is smaller
Hit me up with some reputation points if i've helped you out! (Star in the bottom left!) Cheers!

I put 20's on my car from 15's and it made it higher. Not much, but it was just enough to stop hitting the K frame on the speed bumps going on upstairs carparks. must of moved like 1CM or something
No other wheel size other then 20+ will raise it, unless you have incorrect tire profiles on <20's. Obviously the tires get smaller as you move up in size, but they can only get so small before they cant go any smaller, so it will start to raise the car if that makes sense lol
^ and also be illegal.
As said you can only go +15mm rolling diameter over stock, which will give you a 7.5mm increase in ride height.
sounds like you have ssl's.. why not get sl's or something or standard fe2 springs lol i think we established its nothing tyres can do
I went from 16's to 19's and I think it lowered it by 5mm or something so larger rim doesnt always mean larger rolling diameter. Most tyre shops should have some rolling diameter specs for common sizes
