Hey all,
Im in the process of painting my ecotec cover for my VT that is a tungsten colour and was wondering what would look best to paint engine cover... Was thinking either
Whole thing black with the writing in gold to match the black plastics in engine bay and gold to match car colour
E.g this but gold lettering
Or
Silver with Red writing...
What do you think guys

21 views yet still no comments on a colour scheme?
take a photo of your engine bay then photoshop each color on...that way you can get an idea of what it would actually look like..
at the end of the day though its your car and your the one thats gotta like it![]()
only thing i did with my engine cover was straight in the bin, as said above each to there own
I reckon go black/cheery black with gold FTW

well im doing this aswell soon. going to make it the same colour as the car (black), but with the grey writing, lines and the "pipes" on the side. (sorta how jecs did with SHYGMH when it had the ecotec in it). personally i think this way looks neat as it blends in with the styling of the car.
but yeah have a look around, many people have done it, see which colours you like the most.
oh and when you do it, the most important part is the prep work, and take your time for a better job
Yer i know i have to like it at the end of the day just I like the idea of both haha!! Well now i have found pics of both we can continue with this poll and I will keep thinkingThat black with gold does look pretty tough.. looks like even the bolts were done in gold too lol! Unsure if when i paint in whatever colour if i will bother to do pipes and lines
Dont worry about prep i have primed it at least 5 times today haha cus I dont have the other colour paints as i only decided on those 2 choices :P!
I like the silver and red
fark its such a hard choice haha ah well least i have till tomoro arvo to work out which i want :P
Dude its only paint its not like you cant undo it. if you dont like it just paint it again?
Have you considered polishing the plenum instead? I think it looks much better and much less plasticky and crap. But each to their own, if you're painting my vote is for black and gold.

The New Ride - The Class 2 Shuttle Craft (VE)
I'll be he comes to get you, some shopping trolley kind of thing, that gets you where your going nice and slow... Well off you go that's fine, the pleasure's all mine.
When I light the nitro on my HQ 454 Monroe!
silver with red would be my choice.
Mine is yellow/gold with black writing
i will have to go for the silver/red
When you do it would be good if you made a how to thread. I was thinking about doing this today but im not sure how i would go about doing it.
My car is green so I would do mine green with black writing. I think black or silver would blend in too much I prefer something that stands out

If you mean your car is Martini, I've recently done that to my engine cover one day when I was bored. The top section is Martini, the "pipes" are dark silver-grey and the Sequential Injection lettering and flutes along the top surface are black.
If I can lay my hands on a spare set of rocker covers, I'll be giving them the same treatment.
Silver with red writing, cloest thing to stock :P

I've had a litre in the garage that I bought to spray the spoiler and the Calais guard extensions. I was touching up the front lip one day and decided to give a spare engine cover a hit of Martini while I was at it, just to see how it came up. Then I masked the Martini off and sprayed the silver grey. The black trimming was last.
I've still got my original engine cover sitting in the garage so I might even play around with that one to see if I can get a better finish on it.
