Does it have to be Holden and Commodore specifically? Cause I'm thinking old Chevy might be a good idea. Here's a few ideas:

1960's 4 door Impala, possibly convertable.
    Early series Monaro.
    Camaro/Mustang 65-70.

    Get one and rebuild her.

I'll be he comes to get you, some shopping trolley kind of thing, that gets you where your going nice and slow... Well off you go that's fine, the pleasure's all mine.

haha man ive played this scenario over so many times in my head

for me it would be a toss up between a '64 impala or an '64-'66 galaxie. bagged on wires of course.

how many of them have you seen on the road? plus the defination of cool.

The old Fairlanes look good dropped and a nice set of wheels. ZA, ZB, ZC, ZD. Prefer the ZC or ZD.

nothin' cruises like a powerglide in a impala

the thing is you havnt said any kind of budget, so obviously the camaros and chargers get pulled out of the hat. everyone wants an 68 RT charger, but not everyone can afford it.

best value i have seen so far is:
    HT, G, K sedans
    XA, B, C 4 doors
    old Mercs with V8's

old chevys are top value. you can score a good rebuilder on ebay for around $8K, as long as you dont mind driving on the wrong side of the car.

even an old hj/hr/hx/hz would look the good restored. I'd love a plymouth barracuda to cruise in personally.
