    Default L67 Genuine Torque Converter.

    Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knows, is the original torque converter that came out in the L67 Auto painted or not.

I picked up my engine and transmission today and when I seperated the transmission from the engine, the torque converter was painted blue.

    Thanks.

Maybe pull it away from the transmission and have a look for any stickers?

genuine are unpainted, GM powertrain remanufactured (ACdelco units) are painted blue... but not that colour blue either. so maybe an aftermarket one

I didn't think the genuine ones were painted but I just wanted to make sure. I will pull it away from the transmission tomorrow and see if there is any stickers on it or something. I think that the transmission has been reconditioned as well because it has been painted a different colour, but the bellhousing is still original, so if it was a changeover transmission they probably used the same bellhousing.

Makes me wonder if anything else has been done to the engine. It came with a pod filter as well instead of the air box. It still has the original supercharger pulley. So maybe nothing else major was done.

I don't think so, it has a number stamped into the front of the pulley - 86132 and on the opposite side i too that number it has the letter R stamped into it. Do you think its original or aftermarket?

You might have to measure it, not such a bad thing if its stock size pulley, motor's had an easier life!
    Power is measured in DECIBEL

Ill measure the pulley tomorrow and let you know what it is. All I know is the engine was really dirty. On top of the inlet manifold was covered in oil, i'm changing all the gaskets anyway but I don't think its ever been cleaned in its life haha.

Yeah, I have never seen a genuine torque converter in any make/model of car that was painted. I still haven't pulled it out yet to see if theres a sticker or something on it. Also the transmission is a different colour to the bell housing. The transmission has been sprayed a green/brown colour and the bell housing is still unpainted. Pretty sure its a reco box and they chucked a high stall converter in while the box was out.

Yeah it is about 3.8". I just measured the outside of the pulley straight down the middle because its still bolted up.

Heres a pic of part of the Transmission. Notice how the trans is painted and the bell housing isn't. My guess is reco box.
