The hoist that I bought came from ebay. It was brand new, they came and installed it. Works fantastic and lifts the bigger Nissan Navara 4X4 no worries. But I can't see it on there at the moment or else I would have put up a link. Make sure you get the 240 volt and not 3 phase. Unless you have 3 phase at home.

I wouldn't use a hydraulic hoist, i've seen a few fail and come crashing back to ground.
one of which was at my father in law's car yard (nth lismore motors)

The hoist i used to use in my mates workshop was designed in NZ and had a worm drive setup on it.
We stripped one of the worms on it one day and it refused to come down! I'd rather a car stuck in the air than to be under it and have a car come crashing down.

Just my two cents... or maybe i'm a tad iffy being under 1 tonne or two of car.

Yeah 240v single phase would be the one you would need. 3 phase is what all the workshops like Holden dealers would have.

The prices have gone down a bit though. Dad and I paid $3000 for ours just over a year ago.

All hydraulic hoists have safety locks, the only way they can come down is if the locks aren't engaged. You should never, EVER get under a hydraulic hoist without the safety locks engaged.

Besides that, you can only buy hydraulic hoists now, no one makes worm drive hoists anymore.

my mate bought a 2nd hand hoist off ebay as BV6 said hydraulics are fine with safety locks on them. His was a 3 phase we converted to single phase by buying single phase motor that suited hoist

Best shed tool ever i used it today to service my auto

Have a look at This TuffLift Hoist Pty Ltd

We use one of these branded one, except we have the Pro9a. It's about the same price as the eBay one and they deliver and install.
