    Default Squeaky electric window

When I close the electric window in our 2002 VX V6 Acclaim it makes a loud squeaking noise when it slides into the top section of the door, none of the other windows do this so I'm wondering is there a product we could spray in there to stop the squeak but at the same time not damage the felt/rubber.

Thanks but are they all felt and rubber safe. I'll see our local auto parts placfe on Moinday and see if they have that silicon stuff and also ask if wont damage the felt or rubbers.

I have the EXACT same problem. I used some powdered graphite that I had laying around. Hasn't helped but I didn't use much, so I'm going to do it again but use a little more.

I think WD40 and similar products would leave an oily residue on the top of the window.
Don't know about silicone spray though.

Repco suggested the silicone spray which made no differece at all, it wouldnt bother me but I only drive with the window down and when I park and the window goes up it makes a lound squarking noise. I might even see about replacing the felt/ rubber parts and its the only window that makes the noise.

Had the same problem on my car. It was caused by an application of RainX on the window. RainX contains silicon which makes the window squeak on the rubber seal.

After buffing away the rainX with an abrasive polish along the top edge of the window, the noise went away.

I've had te VX for 2 years and its only just recently started so no rainx would be on the window, I'll polish the window as suggested and also see about new window rubber and felt parts.

My graphite powder idea seems to have worked quite well. I applied some to the felt area and the back of the outer rubber that the window seals against.

OK, decided to be even more anal and took to the top 30mm of the window, inside and out with my top quality wax.......
Bad idea, as it ate very slightly into the tint, DOH!!!!!

It turns out the slide area inside the door is worn and insnt allowing the window to sit and slide correctly, next Wednesday I have the car booked in at our local Holden place to have the rubbers replaced.

You are taking your car to Holden???!! I hope you have a written quote and don't mind a few breakages. This job would not be hard to DIY. Unless you already have a good relationship with this Holden dealer and can trust them?

Our Holden place is very professional great value and yes they always provide a written quote up front, soon no more squeaks.

Update, 12.11.11 - I had them replace both windows because I love to drive with both front windows down and now they work like new.

Replaced both windows?! Surely there is a cheaper way to fix this issue?
