super glue is strong holding 2 things together, but isn't so good as a threadlocker. If you don't want to keep the knob grab it with a big pair of multigrips on the base and I bet it unscrews...

Also, if it doesn't come off easily this way, pull the shifter out and clamp the shaft in a vise. You don't wanna go twisting it too hard in the car and connected to the shifter linkage etc

Yeah im with Cander on this one. Use a hex key to undo the two screws holding the shifter stick on and place it in a vice.

Why is it being held on with superglue? Have the threads underneath been damaged? If so, might aswell not bother and get a whole new stick.

Its a getrag. No threads They have a special clip and locating slot which you'll never replicate in an aftermarket knob. Im guessing this was the previous owners remedy to hold it on

Pop out the plastic console insert with the shifter boot attached. Then remove the circular rubber boot that seals the shifter to the gold coloured plate riveted to the trans tunnel. Now you need to get under the car and locate the bottom of the shifter where the linkage rod connects. You need to remove the circlip on the drivers side of the rod and then push the rod out of the shifter by pushing to the passenger side. Then, you need to remove the two 12mm??? nuts on the bottom of the shifter. The shifter will now pull out from the top.
    Cheers
