Hey guys! In Jan I bought a red VY SS wagon. Thought it was pretty tidy, the interior was immaculate and it had only done 76,000km.
I just had some warranty work done on it through a crash repair company as I live over 6 hours from where we purchased it who have discovered that the compliance plate is for an 04 VY exec V6 auto, and when they pulled the hood lining out to fix the roof rack leak, they found it's actually been welded and bogged up and it's likely 4 cars made in to one!!!!! They think the chassis is from one car, top half of the shell from a different car and the front end and interior are from the SS I paid good money for...
Spewing. They thoroughly looked over it and that' what they can be sure of.. I feel sick!! I've contacted the dealership I purchased it from who 'may' give me a refund but nothing further.. They want it forgotten about.
I'm not ready to name and shame, but has anyone experienced anything like this or got any advice? They clearly saw a young chick buying the car and thought they might just get away with it. It was purchased from a reputable dealership.
Rrreally appreciate any help!!!!
Cheers Megan
Mate, push on the dealer to get the refund. They are required to screen cars against this sort of thing.
You purchased a VY SS from them and if that is not what they sold you then you have every right to a refund.
If the dealer isn't co-operating then contact the Consumer Comission:

Hi Megan,
You need to look at your receipt and the registration papers and compare to the compliance plate numbers. I assume you have reregistered it in your name and the title is clear?
If yes, then you should write to the dealership stating the facts and that the vehicle is not as stated on the documents. Request the refund of the money. This is probably the best option. Keep copies of ALL correspondence. If the dealership ignores you, then you need to talk to a solicitor (take copies of all corresponence).
If no, then you still should write to the dealer and if not satisfied, talk to the dept. of fair trading.
Hope this helps
I'd request a refund straight up and if they just push you around, take it direct to department of fair trading. I've used their help many times and they don't muck around. If you're legally in the right, they will get what you deserve.
Crappy luck though. Hope it works out.
A Commodore is a passion. Anything else is just a car
thats not on at all as jesters said push the fact that you want a refund or at least a REAL ss wagon..
Depends, what did you buy?
Have a look at the receipt and if it says VY SS then you have an awesome bargaining chip. I had a friend buy the newer Monaro when they first came out and it was parked in his garage when it suddenly caught on fire!
The car was found to be faulty and the Holden dealership gave him a GTO (or GTS, what ever they were) at no extra cost in return for his silence. Hush money is what I would be after.
Don't just get a refund, this isn't acceptable...
Throw a few words around like, ACA, TT, OFT ect and you will be one happy lass before you know it.
