hey fellas ,
im considering putting a 6 or 6.2L from a ve in my vs calais but am not sure wether the engine or transmission will fit without to much muckin around.has anyone attepted it or no anyone who has
yeh you wont have any problems fitting it in... plenty of people have done it...just be prepared to have a big wallet![]()
i not long ago bought a vs ss with an L98 conversion using castlemaine rod shop and castle auto electrics bits. i can tell u this much...
the motor/box (T56) mounts are from crs and the motor sits in there good, none of this sump hitting crossmember business or anything, i dunno what breed of starter motor relocation kit its got but it has got cae 4 into 1 pipes. they fit better than the pacies on my 5L vs! however in saying that there is bugger all room in there, drivers side especially. they do just touch near the starter motor but cos the pipes and motor move in unison there is no noise/vibration etc. apparently the firewall needed a bit of massaging to get the pipes to fit
now i have heard horror stories/seen pics of this conversion with pipes/sumps etc hitting stuff, and it did turn me off doing this conversion to my car. but then i found the ss with the conversion done right and couldnt resist it. dunno if its just the luck of the draw as to wether or not your conversion bits fit or not.
dirt drifter was that car from sydney?
Dropping in the engine should take you a day at best...thats the easy part.
Its the wiring, computers etc etc that has to be done that will take the time.
cheers fellas ill let you now how it goes
