Default Importing VK from NZ - HELP!!

Hi guys i've recently moved to Melbourne from NZ and am looking for information on how hard it would be to get it roadworthy. I know they are not expensive here but I have spent alot of time on this car and it is more sentimental than anything else and it hasn't cost me alot to build.

    Here are the stats :-

1984 VK Calais (factory 6) australian assembled sold new in NZ
    Group A kit
Originally Green on silver but has been resprayed silver
    16x8.5" Corvette wheels
Full VP 5.0 running gear (K-frame, suspension, steering, brakes)
Kings lowered springs, matching shocks, adjustable panhard rod
Borg warner diff from series 2 VK
Everything is bolted on and the only things modified are driveshaft and transmission crossmember.

I have had this car for almost 2 years and registered under my name in NZ for that time, I have a price of $1200 to get it here but the on road part is my concern, is there anything that I should look out for or any reason vicroads wouldn't RWC it?
Do I need to get it a V.A.S.S? What do you think I should budget for it?

    Thanks in advance

i could not see any problems with importing it. it would be like importing any car from overseas. and i would say ARI would be the best one to answer this.
due to some laws involved with this.

otherwise go into vicroads (dont ring or email, im still waiting on an email 6 months down the track)
tell them you want to import your car from NZ to Aus and what will need to be done.
i would say there would be some forms to fill out. will have to get it roadworthied in Vic and then regoed.

this link should help Vicroads Imported
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

wow ok this is a weird one, but i cant see it being any different from a regular pre 89 import. basically all ADR's pertanant to the yeah of the vehicle need to be met. which will be a piece of piss, cos it was made here.

just make sure all original lights/indicators work.
i dont think 84's need side intrusion bars,
you will need ventillation so the heater/demister will need to be working,
all emissions hooked up and working to meet adr 27.
because its a 5 seated, 3 child restraint anchors will need to be fitted. i dont think the factory provisions will pass. the actual ADR approved hooks will need to be fitted, which will also mean that is someone has chopped the parcel shelf to fit speakers, your gonna have problems cos' the integrity of the CRA's and parcel shelf would have changed from when they were initially tested in 84'.
rear retractable seat belts will need to be 100% operable, so they need to reel out fully, reel in fully unassisted, the buckles work as they should and no rips or tears in them and the stepped bolts that allow rotation of the shoulder harness and lower mounting point need to have no free play, so you just need to fit a little plastic washer to it.
all seats and seat belt bolts need to be clean and free from rust/cracking/corrosion
its basically a road worth for safety. but an engineer will be able to tell you more about what he personally wants to see.

sadly i think you may have an issue with the group A kit. but that will depend on the engineer who signs it off. but i have had pre 89' cars knocked for body kits because it changed the dimensions of the vehicle. depends on if the engineer is on his rags or not.

we have done a couple of jap imports from NZ before and they were not all that difficult.

Wow you know your stuff thanks that is great info

    All lights work
Demister and vents are operational (amazing I know)
Emissions were removed (not required) but I'm sure they won't be hard to source here?
Only has a single anchor still has original parcel tray so not cutting done here (checked when speakers were replaced)
Will need to check those belts never sat in the back
My biggest surprise is the body kit it is HDT issue for that model but better to find out now than when it's here

That's some serious food for thought thanks again
