Question airbag which to buy? help

Hey all, i have a vt commodore and i've been preparing my car ready to get some airbags,

I went to this website: ( suggested by a friend ) Tubular Suspension Systems
This kit ( just for rear ) is $800 inc postage, and that was what i was saving for

    BUT

Today i went to this website:
Air Ride Suspension Supplies - Air Springs
and the bags on there are around $350 (for the rear)

I'm confused, what is the major $450 difference between these bags, and would the $350 bag suit?

from what i can see air rides rear kit is 1495$ but its all electric controlled where as the kit from tubular is actually 777$ for bags but thats basic then you can choose an upgrade package which upgrade 3 is the same as the air ride and is 150 bucks more but i guess its all upto how fast you want then and all that

yeah but that wasnt his question.

his question was why are bags $150 each from airride and $800 for 2 from TSS.

the kit from TSS using drop in bags, which from what i can see, air-ride dont have. so there a bit extra to save you cutting up your car.
also TSS is a kit for manual inflation for $800, air-ride is just the bags but besides that not much difference

but from my experience airbags are always a hit and miss type thing. we where using dunlop bags which you would think are descent quality, turn out to be shit.. firestone arnt much better. at the moment we are using some no named brand from the uk which seems to be far better

ah ok, coz on the airide website they say they design the brackets for your car if they can, so hopefully no drilling/ cutting haha but yer i guess tss would be better maybe i dunno i was just like WHAAAA when i saw the price difference :S haha

TSS also have bolt in bags which are cheaper than the drop ins but you have to do some cutting to make them fit. i just ordered the rear drop ins for my vy which i paid $800 for.

Would you suggest bolt in or drop in? Whats involved in installing the bolt in bags in comparison to drop in bags?

bolt in bags are physically bolted to a plate thats welded onto the frame. you cannot remove them to refit springs.

drop in bags fit where the springs go, no cutting or welding, and you can swap them out for a springs.

    BUT

    bolt in bags

    drop in bags

i think bolt in's sit about 10-20mm lower

basically as DM said, drop in bags use the original bump stops to keep them trapped, just like the springs does, and it fully reversable. so these are limited by the bump stops for dropped height

bolt in bags require a flat surface to mount to, so you have to chop out the bump stops. most of these bags have an internal bump stops, which are smaller then the factory ones, hence the lower height,

if it was up to me i would go drop in. less stuffing around, also i like all my mods to be reversable if need be

yes haha by the sounds of that it sounds a little "more" legal hahaha and i mean all that for 20mm . . . . hmm not worth it i dnt think, and so @DM do you have drop ins? coz your height is f*** sexy but summerz is like :O... jizz hahaha but i love them both, SOOOOO jealous

Yeah I have drop ins, going bolt ins though because I reckon that 20mm is important. I want SLAMMED.

haha well in comparison to stock height, drop ins are LOW haha but i dnt really want to have to muck around with it and if i get the drop ins its sorta already legal with the shradder valve to pump them up, correct? or am i misinformed? haha and its still pretty low i think :P would it be any lower on 15" stockies?

    This is correct

It's just in my nature, gotta be the lowest, fastest, etc.

So yeah, if I researched I would have got bolt ins, but drop ins are fairly low. To answer your question I'm mega happy with the TSS bags, performance wise.

excellent, so i'm going to get them in a couple of weeks, will probably look stupid with purple stockies though?? haha but oh well lower is better than higher and bags are better than coils :P thanks heaps, and also, as rim size gets bigger to tyre sizes increase? in other words, will my stockies make the car lower again in comparison to say 18" rims or do the tyre sizes stay same ( outside diam)
