VE Berlina Towbar question: I recently purchased a 2009 VE Berlina which has a Holden factory towbar already fitted. I have mated to it my Hayman-Reece hitch that I use on a different car which has a Hayman Reece towbar housing. However, but I am concerned that hitch sticks out too far to the rear when connected to the VE. I can push it in about 10cm further, but this would require a new hole to be drilled in the hitch bar for the locking pin. I was happy to do this, but my caravan service mob say it's OK even though it sticks out 10cm. I am a bit nervous about this. But I don't understand lever principles. Anyone had this issue? i.e Hayman-Reece levelling hitch inserted in Holden towbar without drilling a new hole in the hitch bar? Cheers. Peter
Hi,
While the caravan service mob are correct (i.e. the hitch was designed for its nameplate load) it would be better to shorten it if possible. The shorter the stronger without getting too close to the body.
Just mark and drill in the shorter location.

Thanks Deltak ... yes, I will do that. Cheers, Peter
