not ALL luxury models were auto... there were factory 5speed VN calais... so there is a fair chance they brought out some VQ's aswell, very doubtfull with the VS stato but

as above says, I have seen factory 5 speed calais`s (VN) but never a statesman. Maybe the VQ 5000i Statesman. But myself was always under the impression that the luxury models were auto.

Yeah i wouldn't exactly put the calais at par with the statesman.

I think the statesman is the base of the "luxury models" i referred to.

i though they where all auto's and converting to manual could be a pain because the lack some of the places you put manual thing, ####ed if i know what, but yeah.

i think you will be getting a free parma ,it wasnt a factory option all the manual statos ive seen have been converted.

We bought a brand new VN calais back in 1988,one of the first lot made.The VN V8 wasnt even available at this time. Maybe holden changed the rules about which transmissions were available for the later model VN calais,I dont know, but I do know that at that time,you could not order a VN V6 calais with a manual box,auto available only. You could option a 5 speed in an executive or berlina though.

ive seen 3 VN Calais with factory manual but they were all 5ltr so maybe it was a 5ltr only thing?

thats all i was aware of too, before i knew there was vn calais manuals my mate said he had one and i kept tellin him he was full of it... well made me look like a fool when i done my homework on the subject haha
