Hey,
Was fixing the mounting location of rear door scruff plates the other day and found this!!
How do I treat this?!?
I was thinking:
1. Light sand
2. Hit it with rustkill rust converter.
3. Hit it with touch up primer.
4. Hit it with touch up paint.
Thoughts?
Hard to tell by the pics but if its rusting from the outside i would do exactly what you said, but if its coming through from the inside it could be a hidden epidemic requiring some fairly major repairs to stop. Im no body expert.
That's a write off...

It was the scuff plate mounted incorrectly... which made it's sharp edge bit into the paint...
So unfortunately I will not be able to hide it with the sill. The rest sounds like a plan.
Going to hit bunnings up and get some rust converter. Get that on there and then this weekend get the primer, paint and clear.
If you scrap it i'd be interested in the wheels, let me know eh?
stop smoking it so much everyone knows smoking causes cancer

Cans of PowerPlus primer and clearcoat from Supercheap. (This will be my Saturday afternoon)
Fun!
lol. you are funny.
step 1: spray rust converter on it
step 2: .... no thats pretty much it
Update, just applied a coat of WhiteKnight Rust Kill Rust Converter. Also have some Rustkill Metal primer with rust prevention stuff to go once the converter is dry.
Already had some clear coat in the shed so only have to get the touchup paint now.![]()
Update:
Managed to apply 2 layers of primer last night.
Not doing anything on it today so it has lots of time to dry and then tomorrow shooting to Holden to get the touchup paint and then supercheap for some fine grade sand paper and masking tape.
I'm already feeling much better about it now that I have treated the rust and got the primer on.
Will post pictures once I have finished my handywork.![]()
you wanna swing it around my place and we can hit it with a bit of colour?
i have 2k clear and a 1.0mm touch up gun for just such occasions. alls you need bring is beer and a small pot of the 2k colour. 250mls is about 30 bucks from paintmobile.
Haha, thanks for the offer Ari, but I want to see how I go with my touch up efforts. Bit of a challenge.
And after I've fudged it, then I will swing past yours to fix it up...![]()
k, but the beer price goes up if it includes repairs
1.5 beers an hour
