engines are supposed to come up to a suitable operating temp, taking it out will lower these temps - might cause some wear on internals

    what he said^

Running without a thermostat will make your engine take longer to get up to temp, and might operate too cold...

For such an inexpensive part, just replace it...

Running cool will affect your fuel consumption big time and can cause premature engine wear. The computer receives information from various senders, one of which monitors the engine temperature. If the engine is running cooler than it should, the computer enriches the fuel mixture, because it reads that the engine hasn't reached its optimum operating temperature.

Thermo's are cheap and simple to replace. Deleting them is very dumb.

thermostats assist in heating and cooling an engine. As already mentioned, they help get a cold engine up to running temps as quickly as possible.

But they act as a restricter, maintaining the correct coolant flowing through the radiator. If there is no restrictions to the flow, the hot water from the engine passes through the radiator too fast, not allowing the radiator adequate time to cool it sufficiently before it returns to the engine.

so yeah, make sure you have one fitted
