    Default Question

Is it normal for the tires to spin (in the air) while in Neutral?

I had my back jacked up.. and had it neutral and started it... and wheels starting spinning at a slow speed.. It was defiantly in N..
    Is it normal?

I recall this sort of question arising years ago with a conventional drive system. The transmission oil in a manual remains thick enough to create drag when the input shaft is spinning at speed, even though the transmission is in neutral. The oil is circulated within the trans sufficiently to "drive" the gears simply by hydraulic pressure. You would find that the wheels could be stopped by hand, probably as the pressure generated is quite low.
