Hey guys,
Well I put the MACE spacers on, and obviously I used gasket goo on it so it would seal etc.
How can you clean it up to get rid of all that you see? Something that won't take a million years, as the stuff is pretty sticky.
FYI, I haven't tried doing more than a quick carcher try, but thought I'd ask before hand as I can't get to it til next weekend anyway.
Thanks.
Wait for it to dry and it will peel off easily enough, and can also just cut it off with a sharp knife.

lol blade is time consuming. I dunno about pouring fuel onto my motor though lol.
I was thinking of using de-greaser, since that owns for taking off oil.

or just dont get it all over the engine in the first place =P
i just let it dry then with a little bit of elbow grease it came off.
wiped off as much as i could with a clean rag when it first got on parts, then again after it had dried.
I did pulled a head off my v8 last night and cleaned the block and head with a wire brush wheel I put in drill... Its softer then the head so it wont damage it. It brings it back nicely.
It would work with wire haha.
Yeah first time using it so I didn't wanna go shy on it, and yep went everywhere lol
What are you so worried about petrol for ?
You don't have to 'pour' petrol on it....
are we talking about the permatex gasket goo (ie that stinky dark brown sticky stuff in a little bottle with the brush that never hardens), then a bit of petrol on a rag and wipe it off.
btw most degreasers are basically kerosene in an aerosole can, so if you are worried about using petroleum products on your engine, then avoid degreaser as well.
+1 wire brush
Nah Darren, just wasn't sure on the idea. And I'm talking the blue one :P
Hi,
There is a product you get from Coventrys over here in WA (now calls 'Covs') that is made by CRC simply called 'Gasket Stripper'. Spray on, have a beer, wipe off. Just avoid paint and rubber.

Luke.
