Hey guys my timing on my vs 304 is heaps out but sounds like it's running ok?? Is my timing gun wrong or harmonic balancer out itself???? It's about 2 inches infront of harmonic balancer degrees TDC??

As kniever said, you need to short the white-black wires on your diagnostic plug and then start the car up - this will disable electronice ignition advance, and leave you with static base timing.

    Then proceed

Pins 5 and 6 on the diagnostic plug under the steering wheel. Static timing is 10 deg BTDC. You can run up to 14 deg running 98 RON.

Yes, that is what puts it into diagnostic mode. Check the tining with the pins bridged.
