    Default Hidden Gems

    Hi Guys,

Just wondering what sort of cars people have found hidden away in sheds. I am mainly interested in un molested and original Holdens preferably but all is welcome.

The reason of this thread is that I was doing a job yesterday at a retirement village and spotted the most immaculate VR I have ever seen. It was a silver VR ACCLAIM (nothing overly flash I know) but it was so tidy and straight. It has always been stored in a shed, straighter than straight and one hundred percent original. One owner and 40 000km original motor. Brake lights look they haven't seen light, airbag covers no warping at all with mint original rims. I am in no need to buy a car but I would of loved to have purchased this VR. Would not know what to do with it as any mods would come with guilt.

Who here has a granny or grandpa with an old original hidden away? Sadly, that is the lowest kilometers I have seen on a 17 year old car.

I'm pretty sure a user on here has a VN Executive which they bought about 2 years ago with only 17,000 on the clock.

Hey troy do you know who it was??? because my grandpa (who passed away about 2 years ago) had a tidy as vn exec that had between 15,000km-20,000km, it was given to my cousin as far as i know (dont speak with that side of the familly much). My grandpa lived in a small town called iluka in nsw but i think my cousin took it to either coffs harbour or sydney, would be a shame if he had got rid of it.

mates dad has a 68 camaro with only about 1600 miles on it.
absolute mint interior, and still on the original tyres!
i would definately buy it if he ever goes to sell it. but i doubt he ever will =P
how about we make the pedals out of sticky rubber and the shoes with steel spikes. at least my shins would like that

I've just bought an emerald green 1979 VB SL commodore, pristine condition, unmolested, factory radio (which still works) and factory air (needs a gas)
200,000k on the clock for $800. Not bad for a 31 year old commodore.
My 1983 VH SS has 238,000 kays on it and it's my current daily.

Some crazy low kilometers mentioned above! Lowest Km old Holden I had was a fully original VH with 110 000 on the clock. Drove like new and looked awesome. Lowest K newer car I had was VZ Clubby with 35 000 on the clock. Bit of a difference in vehicles!

Would hate to know how many old originals got lost in the Brisbane floods!

with some poking around we found a VH SL/X wagon, had about 200,000 on it (high, yeah) but the rest of it was bloody straight! perfect green velour interior 253 was running strong and there was no rust, not even under those bag carrier things that are on the roof.

No idea mate. You could trawl through the VN/VP My Ride area but that's a hell of a lot of threads to sort.

2 years ago i had a mint condition lx torrie 186 tbar auto 2 owner 125,000 genuine klms no rust dead straight original good paint very clean interior and when you opened the boot it looked like brand new it was original right down to the hubcaps paid $400 for it got sick of it just sitting there and my mate nagging me for it so i gave it to a mate for the same price i paid because he always wanted a torrie ,turd swapped it nearly immediatley for an el falcon of all things, bloke who got the torrie dismantled it and sold it in parts so one of the best original torries left got stripped ,still slightly cut about it.

My nana had a 1985 Toyota Corrolla sedan, brought brand new by her and lived in their garage its whole life. Had about 14,000 KMs on it (they only used it to go to the nearby town once in a blue moon since they lived on a farm). It had seat covers on it the day it was brought and the typical throw rug over the back seats, it was SPOTLESS inside!

Family sold it for $2000 while i was overseas, so i missed out on it (they would have just given it to me!)

I friend of mine, his dad has a massive shed filled with all sorts of bikes, mini's and other stuff. He showed me through one day, i could have spent a week in there looking at all the stuff. He even had a tin of the original engine enamal for a Mark 1 Mini in there (that we used when we restored their Mark 1 Mini!)

There is a car graveyard/museum in National Park here in NZ, there are SOOOO many old cars an pretty much anything else you can think of (Horopito Vintage Car Museum & Car Yard, NZ - a set on Flickr)
Such a shame though, the old guy there only sells stuff for way more than its worth so most of the stuff just rots away. Well worth a visit if you are passing through though!
