sorry if this is in the right section as its not a commodore.
my oil filter on my 4pot (n15) wont budge, ive tryed using a oil filter wrench, slip joint pliers, screw driver through the guts the metal just bunches up when i try and turn it with the screw driver.
all ive done is wreck the filter anyone got any ideas how i can get if off?
Fuzzy
Can you get a long screwdriver in against the reinforced rib at the mounting end? If you can, use the screwdriver as a drift at an angle and hit it to shock the filter free.
hammer and punch ...

There is an oil filter tool you can buy from bursons/autobarn for about $30 It's a circular oil filter tool that goes on the end of a 3/8 ratchet. Handy as it grips the whole bottom of the filter, and you get the extra leverage off the ratchet

Try piercing it with a screwdriver then turning the pushing (or pulling) the screwdrive to loosen it
It comes easier when piercced
If you read his first post you will see he has tried that.

What happened when you tried doing what I suggested? The idea is to actually force the filter free by hammering it undone in tiny increments until the tension is released. That sort of impact should remove any stubborn filter.
Do like Calaber says. You don't pierce the filter at all, just tap the lip where it mates the engine until the long screwdriver will bite, keep going around, tapping gently, yet firmly with a hammer. It'll come off that way.
'Ah well, I suppose it had to come to this.'
What did he do different ?
Oh Yeah - OMG! its f**ked lol
hehehe, that would have been a great conversation,
" hello i need to see a mechanic please "
Reception " what seems to be the problem?"
Fuzzy " well um my oil filter is stuck "
Reception " what's it stuck to ? "
Can I ask how much he charged you to come out and take it offOr was it a mate?
Haha man that is the most wasted oil filter I've seen
I would almost bet u were looking at it upside down and tightening it.
Remove oil pump, place filter in vice turn pump ... Refit pump...

Get your belt onto it.

Fuzzy, what technique did the mechanic use, to earn his $100 ?
I realize that he would have had to come to you, as the car would't be driveable, so $100 isn't so bad.
