    Default Help:: oil pressure Gauge!!!!!

    So I have a volts n oil pressure Gauge, there was + and - for illumination and + and - underneath for the gauge to work, and the oil pressure has "s".... Iv bridged the + and - to the dash illumination and then tapped that into one side so I only have 2 wires coming down for + and -. My volt gauge works fine, and I presume S means signal to sender unit, but my sender unit only has a section saying "g". Iv tried putting the signal wire there, but it always just shoots up to 100.... What have I done wrong?????? oil pressure is in resistance. if it shoots up to full you have a dead short. so check that your oil pressure sender is the right ohm'age. signal wire should be earth 0-whatever ohms

    It came with the gauge, and I haven't hooked up the sender yet... Just trying to get a reading of 0. How would I be getting a short if it's getting power off the volts gauge which is working fine

    if you run + to the guage itll read 0psi, but when you run the sender signal wire (which may be dead short to earth) itll show full psi.

    does that make sense?

    i.e if you put a wire on the signal input of your guage and touch it on the body of the car, itll go up to full PSI reading.

    um are you trying to test the gauge with the sender in your hand like the pic? you will need an earth going to the treaded part of the sender like it would get when it is mounted to the engine

    When I put the negative from the gauge to the signal wire, it goes up to 0, so where do I put that negative? I thought it just goes to an earth....

    you need to have a wire going from the S terminal on the gauge to the terminal on the sender, then you need to have an earth going to the threaded part of the sender which usually screws into the engine
