Got defected for bald rear stockies today in Gippsland victoria
I have 2 16'' Imitation VR Clubsport rims with legal tread, about 80%
and my 2 front stockies have 90% tread, if I throw the good stockies on the back
and the 16'' on the front, will it pass RWC or not?
Cant find anything on Vicroads about it...
I drive a 1990 VN V6 Berlina Wagon

Not sure if it would pass but if it was me I'd be putting the 2 stockies on the front so it's not as sus.
Call into the police station for an opinion.
I dont know what the laws are but I would never rock up to a RWC inspection with alloys on the front/stockies on the rear. It just looks dodgey. Chuck 4 matching rims with decent tyres on there, That would be your best bet
In NSW its backwards...
I went to my mates workshop yesterday to get advice on what id need for a blue slip on one of my cars.
He only does pink slips but I suggested throwing stock rims on the car so it wouldn't fail on 20's and he said that cant fail ANY car with 20's if the tread is fine.
Same goes for a blue slip.
But once you roll out of the workshop and onto the road then the cops can and more likely will defect me....
The laws also say that a Mechanic cant pass a car with white light emitting from a cracked tail light, so a piece of electrical tape over the crack is fine...lol
So if in NSW you can get away with it id say your safe in VIC.
Call a workshop, and the cops and compare the two...Its stupid
Find stockies with good tread from the wreckers for cheap. Once you finished with them either chuck em up for sale or use them as skid/drag day tyres.

my rwc guy would laugh at me if i borught a car in with 2 different wheels.
Ah no worries, it was only a minor defect, hence I didnt wanna have to get 2 BRAND new stockies when I've got 2 perfectly good 16'' wheels sitting there, that I could possibly use just to wipe the defect... But I may pop out to the wreckers and get some new tyres this week.
legally speaking there is nothing wrong with having 16" on the front and 15" on the rear. The only requirement is that the rolling radius of the wheel/tyre package is +/-15mm from stock, and that the wheels on each axle are the same.
I have 14''s on the back, this VN sadly came with the 14'' stockies... so 14'' and 16'' on the front, is this still acceptable?
But then what happens when you get the defect cleared? You will need new tyres so stop being cheap and go buy some..... Seriously, and you wont look like a douche bag with stockies on the back...
Having 2 different rims front and rear may be technically legal but in the eyes of the rwc people and the police 2 different rims = plan on doing burnouts which then of course means no rw.
