Default 2005 vz ss ute, when to modify?

Well coming out of a XR6T into a VZ SS 5.7, 1 owner with books 102000kms. If it has been looked after do kms effect when modifying, looking to do exhaust, tune, otr, head and cam,6 speed manual. Will the stock clutch handle the increase and what power would it make with those mods. Really enjoy the v8, the xr6ts are good easy to get power but very costly. And GDAY to everyone and hope to meet a few of you vic boys.

The clutch will really depend on how you drive it. If its got the standard clutch (which at those K's it may very well have) I wouldnt expect it to last to much longer if youre planning mods (especially cam), but if you drive it sensibly...it shouldnt be a problem. A good clutch is fairly pricey for these boxes, but if you plan ahead and do it right the first time, youre laughing.

As far as KM's go, I dont think you have anything to worry about. 100,000 is nothing on these engines and you wouldn't really "worry" about mods untill 200,000+ and strapping a blower to it.

For clutch's will use what i used on the XR6T, Mal wood option 4 which will handle power all the way to 500rwks. Bigger fluid reservoir and braided hoses for $1900, i know it's overkill but like you said do it once. In the ford handled 400rwks really well, looking forward to moding the VZ. Will be getting F@T in Narre warren to do the work as have had done things in the past with them.

Cant say I have heard of them.

LSX Garage in Pakenam and Autotechnique/VCM (big thumbs up for Autotech/VCM) come very highly praised for LSX work if youre looking for different workshops.

LSX garage have a awesome cam and tune package for $3100, thanks for that, being in Narre warren might head overthere. F@T come reccomended by my cousin who is the 3 time super stock champ Nino Cavallo and brother Bruno. If your into drag racing you might know them.
