I brought a car with rego but no rwc a few months ago I only now have gotten the rwc for it (well outside of the 14 days to return the forms to vicroads) my question is when I finaly hand vicroads the transfer of ownership and rwc papers will they care about me handing in the papers outside of the 14 day period?
Nah mate , they will just put it though the system as a new car , so pretty much re-register it . But I think you loose / have to pay for the rego again
Im in the process of registering my new car I brought with no rego or rwc so let me know how you go
car has to go in for inspection if its over the 14 days, so if there are any dodgie rwc items, itll get caught there.
if its still in its 14 days then no inspection required.
Vic Roads do employ inspection personel. They go over the pits at Carlton. You see a lot of taxi's lined up..
not been there for a while? there are radom assesors in vic visiting a different branch each day who ARE mechanics. also the assesors go over the whole car, not just engine numbers. it really does vary branch to brach, but since the new RWC regulations came in play, they have been trying to catch people out.
but thats ok if you dont believe me. my company registers around 3 cars a month. and as dealers we also talk to other dealers who register about the same.
i dont mind the car going over the pits i just dont want to have to re-rego the car!
Quick question about springs I have lowered springs allround (well above the wheels on the front, the back may just be on the tyre line or above) can I get a roady with them?
well I'm handing in the paperwork tomorrow wish me luck lol
you wont need luck if its got a legit rwc and a reciept for the car.
I just got a roady today and my car is lowered. As long as its 100mm clearance from the lowest point of the car. The exhaust usually, is what the tester and mechanic told me. I had standard springs on standby just in case. I ended up transferring just after 14 days from purchase and without a rwc. They give you more time to do a rwc, but still the car is transferred into your name, you just take the rwc in later. I did it this way because I had a huge barney witht he previous dodgy owner and the rego was still current. So to stop him getting back at me by cancelling rego, I went in as soon as I found out how to do transfer without rwc and got the car put into my name.
well went to vicroads they didn't even say anything I just paid the stamp duty and transfer fee funny though I saw on the transfer form warning of penalties of handing in the paperwork after 14 days lol
Yeah same here OP. I was over the 14 days and saw the warnings on the paperwork, they just put it all through no problems. Probably a lot more work for them if they bothered to pursue the penalties though. So not really worth them worrying about it?
