Was it running for 5 minutes on a cold start?

The fans come on at a certain temperature.

If your worried about your thermo fan you could always wire up a thermo switch so you can turn it on and off whenever you feel (will need 2 switches for twin thermo fans)
With great cars, comes great drivers.

Fans should come on at 100-104*

They are weird. Some some on at 1/4 on the gauge and others come on at half way.

Considering they're controlled by a thermo switch. It's likely to be gauge error rather than weird fan operation.

Yeah my point being people shouldn't expect their cars fan to turn on at the same time as their mates ect.........
