so i want to sell my calais and buy a new car,
three options
wh stato s/c
wh stato 5.7
vx ss manual
Now ill do good and bad for all,
supercharged stato- the good, ive always wanted a forced induction car, and better on fuel i assume. The bad, are they much slower then the big v8's? Also they only came in auto
v8 stato- the good, cant go wrong with a v8, the bad fuel economy lol, also only auto
manual vx ss- good, its manual, its a 5.7. the kinda bad, its not as luxruiois and classy imo. What features does the ss miss out on compared to the stato?
I really want a manual, but i want class and luxury to. It will only be pretty much a sunday car, i work 6 days a week, but only on apprenticship wages lol. Anyways i want to hear your suggestions and reasons for them
Cheers
whyy man? but im thinking thats what ill end up buying, fkk there heavy cars but aha
V8 stato add manual when you can afford it, theyre not that bad on fuel if you dont drive like a ####wit.
"The mind is its own place, and in itself, can make a Heaven of Hell, a Hell of Heaven."
apparently wasting my time with 97 cubic inches
milk doesnt come in 1.6 litres
my geminis
Anything supercharged is fun to drive but the L67 may feel a little dull with all the weight of a stato, so V8 is the go. Depends what you like, the little V6 is pretty zippy in the right application and the V8 is just pure muscle in just about anything.
WH Stato 5.7 + whpple charger + manual = big smile.
the ls1 engine is only 4kg heavier than the 6 but much more power productive (mafless ftw), very heavy car the stato I can vouch for that but man, the comfort and power is a scary combination lol heavy on fuel when you have too much fun. SS is a beautiful car too I looked at a few when I was car shopping but the insurance price difference sealed it for me and the boy racer image of the SS. Hard choices thats for sure I'm happy with my choice but always still think what if.
Noo don't sell the calais! imo get the SS and rip off the bits that stop it being classy, spoiler etc
= a big amount of $$ i dont haveit has crossed my mind before, converting one to manual, but it would be hard i reckon and a bit of mucking around.
oh well if its only 4 more kg's then ill go the 8. becuase from factory the s/c is 170kw and the v8 is 220 or 225 or something. Looks like its either vx ss or wh v8. im leaning towards the wh pure becuase of the luxury and features, and they look pretty sexy
Had the same problem a couple of months back, but I was going from a newer to an older car. Sold my V8 VY calias and was looking for a VN - VT SS or a stato around the same price range. Ended up finding a VS HSV grange in my price range, couldnt be happier, once you have that classiness, its hard to give up. Plus like others have said, chaeper insurance (maybe not for mine be a HSV though)
cant go wrong with an ss?
not to exspensive, sort of fuel economic depending on how you push it lmao and manaul? well thats the winner.
May be a stupid question, but I don't know so I'll ask.
Did the VX Calais come out as a manual with the v8?
All luxury holdens are autos. may have been some special factory orders out there. I have seen some Vs senators that are factory manuals.
nope, if they did. i wouldnt be sitting here on the computer, id be out there buying one right now. Its really a shame how all the classy holdens are auto. the only calais im aware that were manual were vl's and vp's. All stato's, grange's are manual. which really is a big let down.
i like the vx shape, but the ss is more of just a grunter rather then a nice cruiser. When i get some time off, i might go around test driving from the car yards to help me make my decision.
wh stato v8 would be my choice "luxury and power" ,then convert the stato to manual .
that would be nice, and never new that. but its just a little far fetched for a p plater, on apprenticeship wagers without a loan lol
i could. and its crossed my mind a few times, but it would be a lot of stuffing around and a lot of moneyy
not sure if this happened, but you could always have special ordered a car from holden with a few changes. eg manual calais or so forth.
and yeah totally agree. if they have a manual luxury car i know what i would be getting next.
if only that was the case, they would be highly saught after and expensive though, yeah it kinda sucks that you have to have one or the other.
the reason i dont want to convert it is becuase i think id have to modify the console, and i would wanna keep it looking factory, but since no stato's were manual there wouldnt be a manual surround, id have to make one and it would eiter be very expensive or dodgy as. unless a vx one would fit
